  • 21 Mar 2010
  • 10:00 AM - 3:59 PM
  • The Beach Arts Center, 1515 Bay Palm Blvd, Indian Rocks beach, Fl
Annie Wade

Cost: $30 ($25 to instructor and $5 to Art Center)

Bring a picture or two that you love not too much detail and let's re-create one of them - using cloth. I challenge each of you to bring ONLY fabrics that you already own. Use those uglies (or not so uglies) and/or let's cut up thrift store clothes and linens for your unique art quilt. You'll add hand or machine stitches and possibly paint to enhance your picture.

You will need:

Fabric - any type (fat quarters or smaller) pieces bring 5 each of light, medium and dark in a variety of colors (If you have a collection of small fabric scraps bring it. I'll have lots of small pieces to share).

½ yard piece of white or off-white cotton ½ yard piece of cotton for quilt back

½ yard thin piece for batting or old blankets 1-2 yards fusible web

(The above 3 items will be the "sandwich" and are approximate measures use what you have)

Tweezers Old towels for your ironing surface (I use a Extension cord old folded mattress pad)

Enthusiasm Parchment paper and/or Teflon sheet

Sharp scissors one large and Iron cleaner (used dryer sheets work pretty one small pair good)

Small iron each person will need their own. A Clover craft iron works perfectly (Darice also makes a small iron for about $10. Use your Joann's coupon)

Optional items (we might not get to the sewing stage)

Your clean sewing machine with it's manual and accoutrements

Basic sewing stuff –threads, machine and hand needles (large eye for machine

embroidery) Please email with questions bohemiannie@verizon.net
